Born on the planet of Avernus II, at the Betazed Embassy. Her parents are diplomats, her father military attaché, and her mother the Ambassador to Avernus II.

Growing up with demanding parents, enduring specialised training in the mental dicipline by her mother, and living as a pampered child in a luxurous villa on a poor, backward planet, really made impressions on her personality.

She has made a carreer in the diplomatic corps, much because of her training, but mostly because of connections due to her parents. She stayed on as assistant on the college, after graduation. She did not receive the highest grades from the education, but well above the median.

Last assignment before leaving the college was to assist with the proceedings of the UFP Integration Commission handling diplomatic technicalities for First Contact situations, and Membership Applications to the Federation. Since there was the need of such educated personnel in the newly colonized Delta Quadrant, she was picked out to go with the Delta Quadrant Diplomatic Mission, leaving with the relief convoy lead by the USS Wraith. After the rough and tumble arrival, she has been filled in with the current political situation in the region.

Outwardly cool and efficient, inside the shell frightened and unsure of herself. Genuinely interested in her work, she sometimes forget other matters, and when she can, she will enforce her will over common sense.

Counsellor's Note: Illona Xian comes from a family of strong telepathic powers, on the mother's side. Together with a pampered childhood, she has developed an aloof view on her work. Fairly new to active diplomacy, she has yet to show any signs of strength or weaknes. She is still an unwritten book, with strong enough personal shields to stop whatever mind probe we can muster.
