Background:

Sytek was raised in the traditional Vulcan mode, without thought to the new views on emotions and other non-logical schools of thought. He excelled in his Kohlinar studies and quickly achieved the "purging" of his own emotional issues. Having achieved this, he began pursuit of his intellectual studies.

He enrolled at the School of Interplanetary Affairs where he learned the basics of galactic history, politics and bureaucracy. Excelling in his studies there, he continued with advanced schooling and graduated at the head of his class.

Realising that you can only learn so much from a classroom, he then decided that Starfleet would be a logical next step in his learning. He entered the Academy and pursued studies in operations and communications, setting aside a little time for course work in diplomatic history. Upon graduation and the completion of his cadet cruise, he headed back to Command School. His supremely logical mind had shown a talent for management and organisation. That combined with his studies in interplanetary affairs seemed to lean towards dealing with other cultures.

Unfortunately, his posting aboard the Nez Perce showed him that not all diplomacy is based on logic. The near incident with the Romulans showed him that he had a lot still to learn about politics and communications. From there he went back to the books and attended Starfleet Diplomatic School. By far this was the hardest time of his life. His devotion to extreme logic was challenged by the oftentimes emotional dictates of diplomacy and while he excelled in the rules and management of diplomatic activity, he was somewhat lacking in negotiation technique.

He headed out into space aboard the Thunderchild on what was supposed to be routine core patrol duty. The appearance of another Borg cube changed all that he found himself in another situation that defied both logic and diplomacy. Surviving the encounter, he again headed back to the books and spent a year at the First Contact Division. There he was able to combine all this interests and truly excelled. Communications, diplomacy, organisation, cultural studies all came together and he showed great promise. There he learned about the situation in the Delta Quadrant and realised that was the logical place to utilise his abilities. He was assigned to the USS Wraith in an operational capacity and as a first contact specialist. He know serves as the Chief Communications Officer.

Psychological Profile:

Sytek is a person of many varied talents and interests and it remains to be seen where he will finally direct himself. Even by Vulcan standards he is extremely non-emotional and devoted to the disciplines of logic which could hamper his ability to effectively lead others who are not the same. While it has not presented any true problems as of yet, it should be monitored if he is to be considered for command in the future.

Counsellor's Note: The strong selfdicipline may hold a secret yet to be discovered. He is logical to the extreme, and the lack of emotions tends to shut him out from the companionship of the crew.
