Service History:

April 2367 - After graduation, Patrick went on a Cadet Cruise, and had his future pretty much sorted out, a quick tour on a glory ship, then quickly to a cushy staff position. At least that was the plan from the Personnel Officers. The Cruise went haywire, when the scout ship went into an ion storm, and got stranded. They encountered an alien race, that was hostile. They had to fight for survival, until the relief forces arrived. Patrick found that he liked the action, and after being rescued, he decided to go adventuring a while, before going back to Staff duty.

October 2367 - Signed on as an Ensign in Ops on the USS Hera, a Nebula class Exploratory Cruiser (CEX) Patrick saw some action in the Dodescaden Nebula, against space slugs, commanded by an energy entity. The slugs were defeated, but the entity vanished.

May 2368 Received a promotion to Lieutenant jg after his actions during the Dodescaden mission, and continued on the Hera, now as assistant Ops. Patrolling the Cardassian border was the next mission, and a few blockade runners was the only action seen out here, and they were dealt with care.

June 2368 - A new position, and a new ship. This time Patrick was transferred to an Ambassador Class Explorer (EX), the USS Zhukov. His new position was Chief Ops, and his rank was Lieutenant. The ship was patrolling the Romulan border. An Orion pirate ship had made some raids in the area, and they were hunting it down, before the Romulans took it as an excuse to launch a number of raids of their own, which might lead to a disruption of the fragile peace.

This time, Patrick got some use of his legal skills, and he acted as a legal advisor to the Captain, and together they solved the situation, before it got out of hand. Even the Romulan Commander on the borderwatch was pleased with the solution. Exactly how the situation was defused is still kept as a secret, but the Romulans were in on the deal, and the Orion was never heard from again.

March 2369 - Attends the Starfleet Juridical Academy on Vulcan, specialising in Federation Application and Colonial Management.

June 2370 Attends the Starfleet Staff School.

August 2372 - A staff position at last, at sector command of the Beta Eridynae sector, and a promotion to Lieutenant Commander. and Chief Advocate was his reward. Patrick thought that the time was over for the fast and furious life among the stars, but fate had it differently.

September 2374 - An Admiral with the dreaded SFI emblem on his shoulder, came looking for him. He was rounding up volunteers for a dangerous mission into the Delta Quadrant, and Patrick had just volunteered. Not knowing that, he agreed to see the Admiral privately. After some discussion, Patrick found that he had been tricked again, and snared by the secrecy of the mission. His job on the other side was to start up the negotiations for the applications for entry into the Federation, the legal stuff mainly. Later on, when the parties had handled the legal stuff, the diplomats would be brought in, to seal the deal.

That was the plan. He would also leave as a passenger on the SS Kobe, a VIP spot at that. On the trip over, he got through a scare as the wormhole closed on his tail. And the fighting once they got there was not much better. But after a while, the Ssorans surrendered, and the Romulans vanished. Patrick could then start to work out the legal status of the Planet, and the station, and all the other necessities for the entry of New Terra into the Federation. He got a promotion to Commander.

June 2375 - As the Wraith limped in without a CO, Patrick was the only one around with some experience of this kind of job, and received a field promotion to Captain by the Fleet Commander, and got the hot seat as the CO.

Background:

Patrick was born an Irishman, and no education or experience could ever change that. His Father is still working as the Pub Owner in the "Kennedy" pub. His mother work as a dance teacher at Trinity College in Dublin, and she managed to get him interested in tap dancing as a child, and he still taps on occasions. As the only child, he really got what he wanted, and the schools was his own idea.

Patrick went to school in Dublin, at the Trinity College. He studied Law and Economy, and did not have any plans on joining Starfleet. After the exams, he tried to find a job as either a lawyer, or a financial advisor, but the jobs were slim. Then he worked with his father, a proprietor of the Dublin Pub, "Kennedy's". Joining the Starfleet, came later. A cousin, Paddy, told him about the nice education and good employment possibilities after a term, so he applied for a position in the Academy.

No one was more surprised than Patrick, as he found out that he got in. At the academy, Patrick was not among the top of the class, but he got through. He was steered into a career as a bridge officer. With his pre academy education in Law, he really had no choice in the matter.

Since his specialised education and career, he has been working for the UFP Integration Commission handling legal technicalities for First Contact situations, and Membership Applications to the Federation. He has been instrumental in handling six new colonies, and has been part of the Contact Commission negotiating with three different civilizations. He also holds the Bureaucratic rank of Deputy Second Undersecretary (P2).

Psychological Profile:

Patrick is an easy going person, very good at getting good relations with his shipmates. A bit of a prankster in the right company. His legal skill is hidden behind the cheerful bravado, and he can be cold and heartless if the situation so warrants. Laws are to be enforced, but cold be interpreted from time to time. Actually standing with one leg in the Staff role, and one leg in the Starship role. It makes it hard for him to chose. But as an Irish, he really doesn't worry about the tomorrow.

Counsellor's Note: A bit of an enigma. He has strong leadership traits, but mixed with a strong sense of fatality. balancing on jovial and strict businesslike, he may be difficult to decipher. When on a bad day, he is very stubborn, and bureaucratic. But once you gained his trust, he is an open book, and very easy to deal with. The lack of Command School weighs up with his Juridical training.

He also has the nasty habit of smoking cigarretes. Many times, he has had skilled programmers adding cigarettes to the Replicator menu, despite the official ban on such activity by Starfleet.
